securing success: College & CAREER READINESS WORKSHOPS

Detroit Speaks offers two college and career readiness workshops per year for high school students and their families, in an effort to ensure a smooth and educated transition into college or careers. These workshops cover college selection, financing, career mapping and scholarships.

pathfinders: summer leadership accelerator

The Pathfinders Summer Leadership Accelerator is a cohort-based program designed to provide 30 youth the opportunity to increase their levels of college and career preparedness. Students are selected through an application and interview process to attend this four-day intensive focused on public speaking, social impact, mental health, career mapping, personal finance and more.

20 under 20 awards & ceremony

The “20 under 20” awards is our annual publication that includes influential young leaders under 20 years of age in Metro-Detroit. Students must be nominated and are selected based on community and organizational involvement, academic performance and “The Innovation Factor”.

dream big scholarship

The Dream Big scholarship is awarded annually in the Spring to a young person that has been accepted into a college or trade school. The purpose of this scholarship is to offset college or trade school expenses when preparing for attendance. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee.

Annual Scholarship Soiree & Fundraiser

The Scholarship Soiree is an annual event and fundraiser to honor and reward to the “Dream Big” scholarship recipient of the year. This upscale event includes food, beverages, live music and motivational speakers.

ds day of impact

Day of Impact is an annual opportunity for the Metro-Detroit community to embark on a day of volunteerism. The goal of this day is to increase community service efforts in Detroit, and expose volunteers to various needs in our communities.
